New Golf Plus – First Hand Accidental Preview

Apparently, during the Essen tuning auto show (Germany), Volkswagen dropped accidently (maybe not!) a few flyer’s that included pictures of the new Golf Plus, which was expected to see it’s official presentation during the next Bologna (Italy) Auto Show.

No official data as come out just yet, still, it looks pretty similar to the actual model.

Check out the images yourself (low quality stuff, still better than nothing. :) )

Volkswagen Scirocco Review: The Most Anticipated Arrival of 2009!

Through this matter you get the rough idea of what the new Volkswagen Scirocco is going to be like and every minute details that may arise concern has been highlighted. Hopefully, this car would find similar popularity, after being released as did its earlier versions during their own time.

Volkswagen is one of the most renowned German car manufacturers, who had become quite popular with the model of their sports coupe, in its earlier days. It was the Volkswagen Scirocco, which had been designed in a unique style back then and in a matter of days became immensely popular, catapulting the fame of Volkswagen. This eventually prompted the company to release a third version of the model in the year 2008, which promised to finish manufacturing by early 2009.

Volkswagen Scirocco

Although there have been many speculations regarding the matter and many disagreements over the release of the new model of Scirocco, the car is set to be launched by the end of this year in America, as a 2009 model. Moreover, the cars, which are to be made, would be consisting of 6 cylinder engines with the capacity of 3.6 liters, having the facility of driving on all wheels. With various newer facilities to one of the most popular cars of the early 90s and late 80s, the Volkswagen Scirocco is supposed to be costing a little high, as of $ 28,000 roughly, being E 22,000.

It is being thought that if the car were to comprise of a turbocharged and supercharged Twin-charger of 1.4 liters, the vehicle could be seen to push about 140 to 170 Hp. If by chance the individuals ever plan to get it increased to 2 liters, then the coupe could get a boost as high as 230 Hp. The newer model is based on the PQ35 platform, which is lower than that of the Golf models, and could be improved. As it is several of the machine parts have to be replaced, to get the proper shape and look of the car, forcing the position and models of the hardware to be changed inside the car.

Volkswagen Scirocco Interior Detail

The suspension of the car is somewhat alright having the MacPherson strut in the front end of the car, whereas the one at the back is of the multilink nature. The steering of the car is helped out by the electro hydraulic gadgetry, which may not be the best in standards among other vehicles. The individuals buying this car would boast about the removable sunroof, acting as an added feature to the vehicle. The overall structure is supposed to be composed of aluminum parts like that of the 2nd generation Audi TT, which had been of slightly different pattern.

The original plan of manufacturing the car is being thought of to be shifted to Portugal. It has been found by individuals that the cars could be produced at a tremendous cheap rate, without compromising over the quality of the “Rocco”. Being in the same line up as the up coming Eos model, it had been thought that the cars, having the identical mechanical package, could be brought up together. As of now the main suppliers have started on site satellite operations, and it could be hoped that the car would be success, as the boss is looking forward eagerly to uplift themselves from the Golf series loss.

The Passat Line – Volkswagen

Volkswagen is one of the bigger names in the automobile industry. Volkswagen has built it’s name on the safety and reliability of it’s vehicles. Many car buyers in the United States, and worldwide, know that when you purchase a Volkswagen, you are buying a vehicle with a reputation for being not only one of the safer cars on the road but also a car that will not be spending excessive time in the car repair shop. One of the more popular lines that Volkswagen produces is the Passat. The Volkswagen Passat encompasses all that an economical family car should be, and it is available in a number of different forms from the regular Passat to the Sedan, and finally the Passat Wagon.

Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen first brought the Passat to America in 1990 and though it had a slow start at being accepted, mainly due to it’s lack of an attractive front end, it eventually became one of the more popular family cars on the market. The key to it’s acceptance on the market came a few years after it’s introduction when a V-6 version became available. The Passat developed into a full featured car line eventually going from a front wheel drive only family car to a vehicle that had both all-wheel drive and turbo charged capability as options. Roughly twelve years after it’s debut, the Passat was also able to be equipped with a V-8 engine if the customer chose that feature.

Blue Passat Wagon

The Volkswagen Passat Wagon achieved a following of it’s own based on it’s large cargo capacity in terms of both passengers or goods and on it’s semi-luxury interior options. The Passat Wagon is one of the more attractive wagons on the market with a great deal of attention paid to both the interior and exterior of the vehicle. With an all wheel drive powertrain and a V-6 engine, the Passat Wagon has the ability to be a reliable family vehicle under a great deal of adverse driving conditions. The interior of the Passat Wagon allows parents to feel like they have not given up on their dreams of a luxury car, even though they were in obvious need of a true family car. There are many popular features included in the interior of the Volkswagen Passat Wagon including: a leather steering wheel, user-friendly controls, air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, an MP3 capable and CD stereo system, cruise control, a cooled storage compartment, and more. The most important interior feature that many Passat Wagon owners swear by though is the more than 35 cubic feet of cargo space.

The Volkswagen Passat made it’s debut as an economy family car, and because of what many car buyers saw as sub-par exterior design flaws, it took awhile to take off and become popular. Through constant upgrades and redesigning though, the Passat line of cars developed into one of the more popular economy and family car lines of any manufacturer. Whether the Sedan model or the Wagon model, Volkswagen has filled a niche with it’s Passat line of cars.

BMW And Volkswagen Battle Over Rolls Royce

It is not uncommon in the world of big business for one company to consume another company. Often it is done to acquire assets that the first company is in need of. Many times it is done so that the larger company can establish a foothold in a new or emerging marketplace. There are times it even happens so that the larger company’s assets are more diversified. And it can even happen at times as a defensive move so that the larger company is less attractive to another company looking to take it over. Whatever the reason for the takeover, when it happens it usually changes the entire look and feel of the company that has been taken over. Sometimes business deals like these are complicated when there are two larger companies trying to buy one smaller company, that is exactly what happened when both Volkswagen and BMW set their eyes on Rolls Royce.

BMW’s ties to Rolls Royce stretch back to the early 1990′s when the two companies teamed up to see two Rolls Royce models (the Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage make use of BMW engines. It was this early work together that laid the groundwork for BMW’s desires to eventually acquire the Rolls Royce company. It wasn’t until 1998 that BMW would take the first step of acquisition of Rolls Royce, unfortunately by that time Volkswagen had also entered the picture as a suitor of the world famous luxury car maker.

The early leader in the bidding for the Rolls Royce company was BMW, however they were later outbid for the company by Volkswagen who would eventually complete the purchase in late 1998. Volkswagen celebrated its victory over BMW, but BMW still had plan B available to them. When Volkswagen had completed negotiations it had acquired two important symbols of the Rolls Royce company, the uniquely shaped radiator grille and the “Spirit of Ecstasy” mascot. These are two world famous symbols of the Rolls Royce company and without them it would be difficult to continue marketing vehicles to Rolls Royce enthusiasts every where. The one thing that Volkswagen failed to purchase in the takeover? The rights to use the Rolls Royce name.

Rolls-Royce plc is an aero-engine manufacturing business that owns the rights to the name Rolls Royce. Unfortunately for Volkswagen, the aero-engine maker already had a working business partnership with BMW. Through a deal struck between the two companies, BMW reached a financial agreement in 1998 that allowed them to acquire the rights to both the name Rolls-Royce and the famous “RR” logo for use on automobiles.

At this point then, Volkswagen had acquired the Rolls Royce company and BMW had acquired the Rolls Royce name. Seeing that they were at an impasse, the companies fell into negotiations that ended with Volkswagen gaining the right to use the Rolls Royce name until the year 2003. But after 2003 BMW would gain the rights to use the grille and mascot from 2003 onwards.

When everything shook out following 2003, BMW had built a new factory to produce the much sought after Rolls Royce models, including the exciting new Rolls Royce Phantom, while Volkswagen concentrated on the other property gained in the original Rolls Royce purchase, the Bentley line of cars. Two large car companies had competed against each other in 1998 in a battle over specialty car maker Rolls Royce. At first it appeared that Volkswagen had dealth BMW a knockout blow, but in the end due to luck and insightful negotiating BMW had fought back to end the battle with what was essentially a draw. A very interesting episode in automotive manufacturing history, the likes that may never be seen again.

VW Bora Tuning

Car tuning has changed the face of a factory manufactured vehicle to something flashier and sleeker. It has made cars both aesthetically and functionally improved overall and the VW Bora is no exception. Many hobbyists, mostly male enthusiasts, have made this both a hobby and an industry. After Toyota, Ford and GM, VM comes next as industry car producer. According to its German name, VM means “people’s car.”

Bestseller in the US and Canada

VW Bora spans five generations which is essentially known as the sedan version of a small family car as many knows it. It comes with improved interiors but with consequent higher price tag as well. The Bora comes in 2- and 4-door sedans as well as 5-door station wagons. It sold like hotcakes with almost 7 million cars sold worldwide with a third of that figure sold in the US alone.

Advanced Options

Aside from its rounder shape and curved corners which has become the standard features of the VW Bora, it can be modified to include climate control done automatically instead of manually as well as windshield wipers that are sensor controlled whenever as soon as raindrops hit them. The engines are 1.8T four-cylinder or VR5 (5-cylinder) for better power.

Car owners may also opt for additional emissions and electronics equipment to be able to meet standards for air emissions in North America and Europe. For this purpose, PD technology can be utilized which helps produce adequate power and still meet emissions standards. This technology helps inject fuel at extremely high pressure into the vehicle’s combustion chamber which produces fine atomization. This means higher levels of complete combustion. Noise is reduced with the system called “pilot injection.” One can also innovate with front bumpers for better impact-absorption. Try the Electronic Stability Program which includes brake assist and anti-slip regulation.

VW Lupo Tuning

Volkswagen manufactured Lupo for about 13 years from 1998-2005. As one of top four leading car manufacturers, Volkswagen continues to innovate and experiment with variations of cars including this city car known as Lupo. This was replaced eventually by the VW Fox.

Volkswagen Lupo Tuning

Hot Hatch

With majority of car models produced geared towards bigger and heavier cars, VW decided to fill in the gap for lighter and smaller model which gave birth to VW Lupo late in the 1990s. Direct competitors of this brand were Opel’s Agila, Ford’s Ka and Fiat’s Seicento. The VW Lupo has proven itself a good model for car tuning where it has won several awards including Best Micro Car from Fleet News Award in 2001, Best Small Car from Auto Express New Car Honours and Best Fuel Economy from the International Engine of the Year Award, both in 1999. Such awards clearly indicate that the VW Lupo is indeed of world class quality.

Special Edition

The VW Lupo was further improved with Lupo 3L which had every intention of making this the first car model to consume 3 liters of fuel for every 100 kms. Along with this upgrade, a few changes were made to the original Lupo. First, it included a three-cylinder engine powered by diesel with direct injection and turbo charger. The doors, rear-hatch, hood, seat frames, wheels, engine block and suspension system was made into magnesium alloys and light-weight aluminum to come down to a weight 830 kg. There’s also the tiptronic gearbox. Idling periods are avoided with automatic engine starts and stops. Add resistance tires and move the battery to the boot for improved weight distribution and you get a VW Lupo good for racing and showing off. Your Lupo can still be improved to something like this racing car. Anyway, it’s going to be worth more than the usual.

VW Golf Tuning

The VW Golf series is the next car to capture people’s attention after the classic VW Beetle. The excellent engine and lightweight built of the unit made it a VW car to be considered. In general, the unit is pretty responsive and easy to handle.

Volkswagen Golf Gti Tuning

If you are looking for a VW Golf to tune and customize, the engine must be your first consideration. The VAG 1.8T would be the best consideration. A well tuned 1.8T could produce up to 300 BHP of power. This engine is powerful enough to speed up a small car like the VW Golf. Getting the right exhaust and induction kit is enough to tweak this engine to its full potential. But if you have an engine like a 1.4 or a 1.6 on your VW Golf, a good air filter would do the trick. But if you are still not satisfied with the 1.8T, then maybe it’s time for you to get a V6 4M or a V6 R32 to power your car.

Volkswagen Golf Tuning

The newer releases of the VW Golf is heavier than it predecessors. A powerful engine should be enough to carry the weight and produce good speed and acceleration. But if you want to reduce weight, then carbon fiber is the answer to your problem. And for more response, it would be wise to opt for a lowered suspension. Taking 30 mm from your VW Golf suspension should do the trick. Just make sure to install firmer springs so that driving comfort is not diminished.

Volkswagen Golf Engine Tuning

Additional tuning of the VW Golf could also be done by providing a better differential. To get the most out of the front wheel drive configuration, use a semi locking differential. 18″ or smaller rims on your car could substantially provide better handling. Also, get good quality tires for better traction and safety.

VW Polo Tuning

The Volkswagen Polo is basically designed to be a family car. The VW Polo is also compact, economical and driver friendly. And at the same time, the VW Polo is also fun and rewarding to tune-up.

But before you consider tuning a VW Polo, it is prudent to get the right version equipped with the right engine. If you are planning to tweak your VW Polo in the future then the VW Polo Mark4 is your best choice. And don’t be blinded by the cheapness of the 1.0 L engine because it will remain a snail even after expensive modifications. Other engine types are O.K., but a 1.8T would be awesome. But if your budget could not afford a 1.8T, a 1.4 16V is not bad at all.

Volkswagen Polo Tuning - VW

Like any VW Polo or Golf, your best and most affordable upgrade would be the air filter and exhaust system. The panel filter will work best with the 1.4 or even the 1.8T. This upgrade will do until you get your hands on enough cash to get a more powerful engine. And once you do, get a 1.8T if you originally bought the 1.4, or if you got the 1.8T already, then a VR6 would be the next choice.

Volkswagen (VW) Polo Extreme Tuning

There are other problems with the VW Polo that you should take care of through tuning. One is the suspension since the VW Polo is higher than it should be. You could solve this by lowering the strut to about 40 mm than the original. Lowering the suspension will provide better handling and stability of your car. But once you lower the suspension, you should also opt for firmer springs to stabilize the feel of the car. Or better yet, you could get an adjustable suspension if you could afford it.

To fit your lowered VW Polo and to increase handling, it is wise to get 18″ wheels. You could opt for something smaller, but 18″ looks better. Be sure to get good quality tires to go with the wheels. Excellent tires may cost more, but they will prove practical in the future.

VW introduced the Passat back in 1973 which were initially offered as two and four door sedans as well as versions with three- and five-doors. These versions shared a common style care of Giorgetto Giugiaro, an Italian designer. From that time on, the VW Passat continues to earn raves as well as criticisms from automobile raters and users.

Facelift for Passat

Some mechanical changes and alterations on style can be made to give the VW Passat a fresher look. Give this a new set of car projector-optic headlights, tail lights, bumpers and the car would look much better than when you first bought it. Owners may also opt for front suspension with four links which take out torque steering. To help avoid traction loss when driving on slick surfaces, a Torsen AWD system can be utilized for this purpose. Power can be improved and turbo charged with diesel with a TDI engine which produces 135 PS. Best part about this engine is that it utilizes diesel for fuel economy and its ability to operate with biofuels, an inexpensive alternative to gas. This Torsen AWD system usually comes with the four wheel drive version..

Volkswagen Passat Tuning

Upgrade to Safety and Function

From the Torsen system, one may now opt for Haldex multi-plated clutch which is available when using a 4-wheel drive version. What this upgrade does to your car is improved fuel economy with spacious interior that allows for more room. Haldex helps you direct your power by letting your car act as any four-wheel drive until it starts detecting slippage. In which case, half of your power will be diverted to the axle which is opposite that of the transmission or engine. There are a lot of things you can do to make the VW Passat a class of its own. Who says a family car can’t look like a sports car?

VW Tuning

Volkswagen is one of the oldest vehicle brands existing today. The Volkswagen brand focuses on economic cars rather than the fast type vehicles, but this does not mean that VW cars could not be perked-up for speed and efficiency. The latest generations of the VW Polo and Golf now have the capability of being tuned up for speed and could even be used for track racing after the works.

VW Tuning

The engine, handling system and differential of VW vehicles differ for each model released. Getting a new generation VW Golf or any VW Polo will be a good startup in making an efficiently tuned-up and customized VW. Be sure to get a unit with an engine that is powerful enough so that getting a new set of engine is no longer necessary. A 1.3 L or a 1.4 L would do. But a 1.6 L or 1.8 T will be fabulous if you have the budget.

The most economical way of tuning the VW engine would be improving the air intake and exhaust system. You could get a variety of air-intake upgrades that you want as long as it would provide good and clean breathing for your engine. Exhaust should also be unhindered. Once you have done this, your VW’s improved response should be noticeable. Turbo charging is not a bad idea either as long as you have the cash to get it.

Volkswagen Tuning

Next in line would be the VW’s differential. A slip diff that is electronically controlled would be the best choice, but if you’re not planning to race, it would be a waste of good money. A torque activated LSD would be the practical choice. It is not that expensive and is able to provide a considerable increase to your VW performance. Plus, it is suitable for almost every load condition.

Other tuning possibilities for your VW would include tire upgrades for better traction and driving comfort and weight deduction. Tire options are not hard to find, and there is a good number of high quality tire available for VW’s. As for weight reduction, changing the hood, bonnet and front wings with carbon fibre would do the trick.
