Anzom Land Rover Defender
June 12th, 2010 by arman
The Land Rover Defender is one of the coolest cars on the market today, mainly because it has stayed loyal to its original form, even though many people think it’s ugly!
Now there’s a new tuned version of the car, which surprisingly comes from Italy. It’s a creation of Aznom and Romeo Ferraris.

And the package they’ve come up with is also weird. I mean why would you need a carbon fiber bonnet on a Defender?! The modificaitons under that bonnet though, which gives an extra 30 hp, is most welcome because the Defender has always suffered from the lack of power.
Other enhancements the Italians can provide include two-tone paint job with red accents, black wheels with street tires, sports seat and steering wheel, and carbon fiber trimming.

Project Kahn RS200 Land Rover Freelander
May 28th, 2010 by arman
British tuner Afzal Kahn has released an upgrade package for the small and affordable Land Rover Freelander which must be their cheapest car ever!
The RS200 kit is inspired by the Kahn’s Range Rover Sport and comes with the same sort of body modifications and 20-inch RS wheels.

On the outside it gets matt black signature bonnet stripe, silver door handles, door mirror caps, front bumper vents, body coloured style vents, side sill, front grille surround and smoked side repeaters.

The interior features new black leather upholstery with white stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel, again with contrasting stitching and new red and white instrument panel.
And the price for this, just £29,995.

Superchips power upgrade kit for Land Rover Discovery
April 30th, 2010 by arman
Superchips has come up with yet another brilliant ECU upgrade package which very cleanly adds a nice amount of power to the output of your Land Rover Discovery LR3 TDV6 diesel.
This ECU Remap kit which is plug & go and you can install it yourself, gives another 40 bhp and 85 Nm of torque.

That means the lofty LR3 which weighs nearly 2.5 tons now has 219 bhp and 469 Nm, which is still not that great but at least you have more pulling power!
Superchips says this £445 kit also helps with the fuel economy as the car averages 27 mpg.

Land Rover
October 19th, 2009 by Shenron
Land Rover is the oldest brand to manufacture SUV’s, as it was established before the brand Jeep – but after the jeep vehicle. It is said to have been inspired by the earlier jeeps manufactured during the second world war, and that land rover’s designer Maurice Wilks, as he was at the time in head of the design department for the British company Rover.

The first prototype was built on a Jeep chassis and made out of newer aluminum and alloy materials rather than steel (at the time there was a post war steel shortage and plenty of airplane materials, along with cockpit paint in various shades of green). So the first Land Rovers rolled off with a great record of reliability and endurance, and coming in many shades of green. There was once an advertisement stating that the Land Rover drove thousands of miles on just banana oil (as the original engines were 2.5L 4 cylinders that were extremely simple and mechanically easy to repair). However they adopted more complex electronic engines later on.
The Land Rover went on to become one of the most popular workhorse vehicles across much of the world, including Africa, South America, and Australia, and also Asia. Unfortunately by the 1970s they had lost much of the market share in those regions and have been seeing declining sales due to cheaper Japanese and Korean made vehicles taking dominance with better prices.

Even in Britain the Land Rover has fallen from grace with the small farming communities and some of the military vehicles – as cheaper and less expensive Asian imports are more favorable. Recently their reputation has faltered as well, being seen as less reliable and less cost effective because of how close Land Rover and Jaguar are now (Ford owns them both and Jaguar’s engines have been in Land Rovers, leading to many reliability problems in the past).
