One of the many accessories that many car tuners look into to give their vehicle an increase in performance are gas treatments.  Gas treatments have become quite popular over the decades and are used by millions.  While gas treatments state that they can aid cleaning your car’s engine, increase fuel efficiency and performance, many experts are still skeptical in the long term.  Here are some tips and information on gas treatments

How Does a Gas Treatment Work?
Gas treatments (also known as fuel injector or fuel and carburetor treatments) are quite popular in any auto accessory shop.  They are usually quite inexpensive- usually a couple buck or less and easy to add to your vehicle- simply add a small bottle to your fuel when you fill up your tank with gas.  For many car tuning enthusiasts, gas treatments can be a good idea for vehicles that may feel sluggish or experience knocking.  Gas treatments usually work by help cleaning out your fuel injectors and fuel system- removing harmful deposits.

How Do Gas Treatments Increase Performance
While you shouldn’t expect a tremendous increase in performance for vehicles that are well maintained and fairly new, if you own a vehicle that is older, has high mileage and has been running sluggish, adding a gas treatment can help your vehicle burn fuel more efficiently and thus increase performance.  It should be noted that since each gas treatment product is different, you should read the directions so that you receive the best increase in performance possible.

Are Gas Treatments Harmful to Your Vehicle?
While many manufacturers state that after market fuel treatments are not necessary and can even be harmful to your vehicle.  It should be noted that the reason that some product do harm to your fuel system and vehicle is that some items sold can contain chemicals that are corrosive in nature and these chemicals can eat away at your fuel system.  However, higher quality brands do not include any types of corrosive chemicals and are safe for your vehicle.
