The SLR has had a fine run and Mercedes is extremely proud of the media and car enthusiast’s attention towards their SLR vehicles. These sports cars are some of the best that have ever been built and they have definitely pushed Mercedes Benz back to their drawing boards to reengineer and create incredible achievements. So, to commemorate the final run of their SLR exotic sports cars, Mercedes has found a way to really put the cherry on top of the sundae- the Mercedes Benz/McLaren SLR Stirling Moss.

These incredibly beautiful vehicles will unfortunately only be offered in Europe and a total of only 75 vehicles will be produced. The body of this SLR is incredibly beautiful with wonderful swooping lines, no windows and no roof. However, what you do get is plenty of power, performance and a definite wow factor. The car is named after race car driver Stirling Moss who won a wide variety of races using the 300 SLR in 1955.

Under the hood you will find a supercharged V8. This V8 is incredibly strong and offers 650 hp. What this power translates to the road is sheer acceleration. For instance, the SLR Stirling Moss can accelerate from 0 to 60 in less than 3.5 seconds. This is faster than most exotics and in the range of cheetah territory. Since this vehicle will only be available in Europe, drivers will surely enjoy the autobahn and this vehicle’s whopping 217 mph top speed. Again, it should be emphasized that this vehicle will be made in very small numbers- 75 total and Mercedes has made it known that only their most loyal customers will even be considered. However, for those wondering the price tag of this beauty- its one million plus.

Two words that make any car tuning enthusiast smile is SLR and McLaren and while both create their own masterpieces, recently, a new Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S super car has been developed. Like all super cars don’t expect them to be cheap or to be mass produced. In fact, in this case, Mercedes will only make about 150 units of the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S. However even in their small number they are sure to have a definite impact in the super car arena.

The Tech Specs of the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S
For this super car expect McLaren and Mercedes engineers to go all out. This SLR super car will feature a retractable soft top that is specially engineered for high speeds and with this car, expect to go fast, real fast. This bad boy offers a 650 horsepower 5.8 liter V8 engine which is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 in about 3.7 seconds. For a top speed, the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S crosses the super car high speed threshold to reach a very impressive 201 mph.

Plenty of Engineering Refinements from Mercedes
Besides having a huge powerhouse that pushes the envelope, there are plenty of refinements to making this SLR a comfortable vehicle to drive at normal speeds and at extreme super car speeds. Besides a dynamic suspension set up and a wide range of aerodynamic improvements, the retractable soft top itself has many refinements such as an aluminum cap to strengthen the soft top at higher speeds (speeds over 120 mph) and a cabin that is surprisingly quiet enough to conduct a conversation with the top down.

So how much for this bad boy, well, the Mercedes SLR McLaren 772 S will be sold in limited quantities (only 150 units as stated above) for the price of about $750,000.

McLaren was founded in 1963 with the founder having the brand’s name, Bruce McLaren, and is one of the few manufacturers to come out of New Zealand, and produce cars in the UK. The McLaren team is a very successful Formula One team with their own lines of vehicles; they have won 155 races and eleven driver’s championships, not to mention their eight construction championship wins. Their first decade in the sixties saw the car debut and the racing team as well, allowing them to begin winning races, and thus the decade rolled out well, but the next one started off with a boom.

A bad boom. The beginning was a disaster with the team in the Indianapolis 500; however their best driver was burned severely in an accident that took place in practice. A few days later Bruce McLaren – the founder of the company – was killed. He was testing a new car called the M8D, and when he had pushed it to 170 miles per hour a chunk broke, well, a faster first broke and then a chunk of the back (the whole back pretty much) failed and the car slammed into concrete. He was killed instantly. Twelve days later the M8D was raced and won, and went on to win 9/10 races in 1970.

In the 1980s they dominated the scene with ever faster racing vehicles and then merged with Ron Dennis and his Formula 2 team, and they decided to give it a number for a name. It was called the Project 4, and it was backed by Marlboro. A year later Dennis bought out the other shareholders and throughout the 80s the car won race after race after race, with a 15 out of 16 win ratio that has never been broken. With the beginning of the 90s they began to decline, switching to a Ford engine and other adjustments. Although formidable they began their descent into obscurity with the F1 program being killed and the other problems with drivers. In 1995 they gained renowned world champion Nigel Mansell as a driver – but he could not fit into the car – so he retired. Recently they have made a comeback, winning more races and competing more ferociously than before. However this has been marred with scandal, as a designer may have been receiving information from Ferrari that should not have been – and it has been stated McLaren will be suspended if any parts from Ferrari are found in their vehicle.

Now you won’t say that this is not the Concorde of all cars. It’s the F1 series for god sake this is definitely guzzling. Well you can have all the reason in terms of its speed as it revs up to 371 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

What’s more amazing is the sleek front engine frame with its dashing headlight that gives the car the look of mischief. With its doors opening vertically you can just step into the interior of the car without any hassle. Stepping inside the interior gives you the look at the marvel of genius. With its steering wheel situated at the center there is accommodation of seat both at the left and right side of the steering. With its V-12 engine guzzling up enough speed to suit its performance. The McLaren F1 is certainly at the top 5 of speed thrills as it provides an awesome sense of experience when one is driving this “monster”.
