If you love Lambos, you will definitely find inspiration in the new Lamborghini Gallardo Spider. The Spider builds on the success of the coupe version that was released this year. However, during the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Gallardo Spider made its debut quickly turning heads and causing much excitement. This all wheel drive super car delivers an incredible 560 horsepower to each of the 4 wheels for ultimate performance.

More Power
560 horsepower is a 40 hp improvement over older models and there is even more kudos for the new Gallardo, it is lighter which helps increase the weight to power ratio. Other great innovations is the new 6 speed transmission that makes shifting a whopping 40 percent quicker and for those that are keeping track on the tech specs, this baby can reach 62 mph in less than 4 seconds. While it is extremely quick on acceleration, one of the other great milestones this vehicle achieves at is top speed. The Gallardo reaches 201 mph.

The Spider Soft Top
While most super cars employ a hard top, this exotic offers a soft top that is super fast to open or close- only 20 seconds. While it is not known how much the Gallardo will cost at the moment, you can bet it will be expensive. The Gallardo has quickly made a name for itself and Lambo is not pulling any punches. Lamborghini is trying to get the most out of the Gallardo in both power and performance.

The Gallardo Styling
The Gallardo is a wonderfully styled Lamborghini. For those that love Lambos, this vehicle has all of its classic lines. Inside the interior are little luxury and plenty of features that make sure you stay seated in the cockpit and in control. Overall the Lambo Gallardo Spider is a fine auto sure to please.

Ratrod is amongst the popular types of car used by individuals, who love to race. You can use it to display the man hiding within you and at the same time, talk to the wind while on the road.

Ratrod is a type of barebones car that is built especially for people, who love speed and racing. Ratrod never looks pretty, and it shouldn’t be new too. In fact, experts believe that older the car better will be your Ratrod. Again, it’s pretty simple to build this model. However, it’ll require some time, labor and skill for putting it together.

What You Require For Ratrod?

Car, mainly the one that can be customized, should be used. Such type of car allows you to pull out bad parts and insert new ones like:

Engine

Chassis

Power Components including tire, large carburetor, exhaust header, transmission and piston

Ratrods are totally customizable. Your main aim should be to come with a mean machine, which keeps the ratrod essence in it.

Choose the Frame of Your Car

From Dodge Dart to old Camaro, old Mustang or Gremlin: choosing car frame is your decision. It hardly matters. However, the uniqueness in the car should be visible. Since it is imperative for your Ratrod to race, then better you opt for lighter frames.

Choose the Engine

If you’re looking for your Ratrod be extremely powerful, you should make sure that the biggest available engine is fitted under the hood. Even, buying new engine is not required. Rebuilt or used engines work fine for the car type. Remember, your goal is raw power, so make sure engine’s big & sloppy.

Install Every Essential Component

Your next focus should be on installing the chassis, engine and frame along with basic power components. These are optional components and include transmissions, batteries, axles or wheels.

Stripping the Interior

Stripping car’s interior allows you to pull out any component adding to the weight of the vehicle. This means old seats and center consoles.

While checking the interior, you should also find if the ratrod is working safely or not. It’s important to have them functioning properly in race cars. Other safety measures include removing glass windows & mirror, add padding and a 5-point harness system.

Work on its Body

While Ratrod shouldn’t have a pretty appearance, it deserves some paint job. Most of them are painted only with black primer or color schemes, which make it appear dirty and a mean machine. Apart from painting, you can also go for adding acing flare, which includes air vent or spoiler.

Tires & Rims

Tires should be given proper consideration, as they’re the only thing on your Ratrod, which makes contact with the road. You should make sure that tires are in excellent shape and picked mainly for racing. Rims should also be the one which should be given consideration. You should make sure that your rims have the ability of withstanding the pressure of tires & vehicle that are around the turns.

Testing Your Vehicle

Prior to taking your self-designed Ratrod to the tracks for participating in competition, it’s important for testing your vehicle and making sure it’s safe. Most Ratrods aren’t legal in streets. You should take your designed models to tracks for test runs. You should make it a point that everything is steady and properly working.

Now, Just Enjoy Your Ratrod!

Once everything has been tested and you’ve found everything from safety features to transmission working to your needs, you can take your Ratrod for a spin. Whether it’s on the tracks or places where you can drive fast, ratrod would be perfect for anyone with yearn for speed.

Pagani is a relatively new company and was created by the former head of the composite department at Lamborghini, Horacio Pagani. In the late 80′s Pagani had taken up designing cars that he’d like to see, and began calling it and the work he produced from it the C8 project.

Because of the high demand for his skills as a car designer and as an excellent engineer he created his own design company called Modena Design so that he could provide these services to anyone looking for a prototype or a well designed vehicle, and later he began producing his very own prototype cars called the Fangio F1 – which was in honor of Huan Manuel Fangio, a very popular driver in races who was born in 1911. The Pagani cars were met with increasing demand, and in 1994 Mercedes-Benz agreed to supply him with V12 engines. The last car in its line was given the name Zomda C12 as Fangio had passed away (the name was dropped because of respect for Fangio). Three years ago Pagani released news that he and it planned to triple output within three years and enter the US market this year.

Recently a new model named the C9 is being worked on and will be released in the 2008-2009 fiscal year, and it will be a completely fresh new design, not based on the previous Fangio/Zonda. It will also be a part of the Mercedes Benz agreement with a next generation V12 engine and also what are called Active Aerodynamics. Currently the car in production is the Zonda R Clubsport which was shown for the first time at the Geneva M. Show this year, and it is still using the 6 liter V12 that is manufactured by Mercedes Benz, and it is expected to cost 1.2 million dollars because it is the final production run of the entire Zonda series.

For racing enthusiasts one of the most important specs for a car is the amount of horsepower it is able to produce. While most production cars have been rising in the horsepower category for the last couple of decades today’s exotic supercars have completely blown away anything the traditional vehicles offer. Here are two cars that offer 600 horsepower or more.

Dodge Viper SRT-10
The Dodge Viper SRT-10 is relatively cheap for a supercar boasting 600 horsepower. At $85,000, it is within many enthusiasts reach. It features an 8.4 liter cam in block, V10 that has two valves per cylinder and a relatively traditional engine (whopping 512 cubic inches) that uses brute force to create spot on 600 horses.

The Bugatti Veyron
If you are looking for something more exotic and you are incredibly rich, you might want to get on the list for the Bugatti Veyron. The Veyron is pretty much the top of the food chain with a price tag of 1.5 million for starters. The Bugatti Veyron has incredible specs that will just about blow any enthusiast away. To start out, the 16 cylinder which is actually a twin off set of V-8 engines that utilizes all 16 cylinders creates an incredible 1001 horses. These two huge engines actually share a common crankshaft and include four turbochargers.

Some other stunning facts about the Bugatti Veyron is that it can easily reach 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds- 2.5 seconds to be exact (in case you had time to count). As for top speed- how is 250 mph. However, in order to reach this insane top speed you need the special “top speed key”. As for gas mileage, don’t expect this beast to be fuel efficient. In fact at the top speed of 250 mph, you can probably eek out about 2.46 mpg- we are approaching military tank fuel efficiency.

Audi has come a long way over the last few years with some incredibly stylish and powerful supercars. The 2008 R8 MTM is no exception. This beast loaded with a 552 horsepower V12 diesel is the latest and greatest coming out of Audi. MTM stands for Motoren Technik Mayer and while the R8 MTM definitely has characteristics of a Lamborghini, it holds its own in both performance and styling.

Output of the R8 MTM
The Audi R8 MTM offers extreme output. Delivering 12 cylinders and 552 hp with 428 foot pounds of torque. As far as acceleration goes, expect to go from 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds flat (3.9) and an incredible 124 mph in about 12.5 seconds. For those that are wondering just how fast this powerhouse can get up to, it maxes out at 197 mph- not too shabby. However, the car is also very good at cornering with muscular Bimoto wheels and brakes.

The R8 Leaked
The Audi R8 MTM has been revealed very slowly. Many enthusiasts have been extremely interested in this car, but few details have been leaked until now. While the car definitely takes its cues from Lamborghini, it does keep its Audi lineage and definitely makes an exotic supercar statement.

Giving the Bull a Run for its Money
Audi has definitely made a statement with the R8 MTM. For those wondering if Audi was really serious about being a contender in the supercar market, this vehicle definitely shows plenty of potential. Audi will absolutely give the other super car manufacturers like Lamborghini, Lotus and Ferrari a run for their money. Offering plenty of performance, beautiful, but aggressive styling and some very good technology under the hood, expect to see more of the R8 MTM.

Ultimate Aero is a mid engine sports car produced by the U.S automaker Shelby Super Cars (SSC). Ultimate Aero has claimed the title of the fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 256 mph (412 kmph). It is higher end performance car whose production is only limited. The Aero model was designed by the Jerold Shelby who took seven years to design this car. He is also the founder of Shelby Super Cars Company.

Much importance is given to the style of the Ultimate Aero. Just like the doors of Saleen S7, Ferrari and McLaren SLR, it also includes the butterfly doors to make it as an eye catching one. The body of the ultimate aero is made of titanium and carbon fiber with a view to minimize the weight. The weight of an Ultimate Aero is only 1,197 kilograms (2640 lb) which is further less than a standard Aero model which weighs approximately 1,293 kilogram (2,850 lb).

When compared to a standard Aero model, an Ultimate Aero do not have any trunk space, air conditioning system, video screen, audio system with ten speakers, navigation system and back-up camera. This is removed with a view to reduce the weight and thereby increasing the speed. This is the major drawback of the Ultimate Aero when compared to its competitors Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCR and Mclaren F1. It is this luxury element which differentiates Ultimate Aero from its competitors.

The latest Ultimate Aero (2008 model) has an astonishing 1,183 hp at a 6950 rpm. It has a 6.35 litre engine. Previously ultimate aero had a supercharged engine which was replaced by a twin turbocharger engine in the 2007 model.

Theoretically the car could reach the top speed of 273 mph (437 km/h) at 7200 rpm based on approximate gear shifting ratios. Wind tunnel testing has reached these numerical. However the acceleration rate of Ultimate Aero is less than its competitor Bugatti Veyron. Veyron takes only 2.5 seconds to reach 0-100 kmph where as Ultimate Aero takes 2.78 seconds to reach this speed. The design is made in such a way that it can use 91-octane gasoline.

On March 22, 2007 Shelby Super Cars company had undergone a speed measuring test to check the speed potential of the Ultimate Aero. The ultimate aim of SSC was to replace the Bugatti Veyron as the world’s fastest car. During the speed test, Bugatti Veyron could able to reach 254.3 mph (409 kmph). According to theory, the car could reach a top speed of 273 mph (437 km/h). The first attempt on March 22, 2007 failed to break the record due to some technological limitations. Regardless of the attempt being a failure, the car could still reach a top speed of 242 mph.

On September 13, 2007, SSC made another attempt and this time they had broken the record. According to the rules of Guinness Book of World Records, the car which travels in a particular direction should turn and make a pass in the opposite direction with in an hour. The average speed of the car on both the direction is calculated as the top speed. This is done to eliminate the factors such as favorable weather or road conditions.

Based on the rules, the Ultimate Aero became the world’s fastest production car with 257.15 mph beating the record of Bugatti Veyron’s top speed of 253 mph.
