Dodge Durango Tow Hook image vehicle designed by Mopar Underground. The Tow Hook infuses a healthy dose of eye-catching style to the already-sporty Durango design. The vibrant four-coat orange and satin-black color scheme is executed both inside and out.

The exterior features a muscle-car inspired four-coat orange paint scheme, with satin-black roof, fascia accents and hood graphics, along with blacked-out lighting and twin-spoke 22-inch-by- 9.5-inch forged Superalloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires. A custom mandrel bent exhaust system featuring Corsa components increases performance and belts out an unforgettable tone. To finish off the exterior, the Dodge Durango Tow Hook wears a piano black split-crosshair grille and has a 25 mm reduced ride-height for a more aggressive stance.

Tow Hook’s interior features carry over the theme from the exterior and uses high-quality Mopar components, such as Durango logo door sill guards, aluminum pedal kit and premium carpeted floor mats to add a strong sense of sport to the cabin. The black, perforated Mopar Katzkin leather seats feature orange leather trim on the tops of the seat bolsters and are decorated with orange stitching and piping. Perforated Barracuda suede covers the seat inserts, while smooth suede bolsters with orange accent stitching and piping make the seats pop. Orange leather trim, stitching and piping is found on the center front armrest as well.

Chrysler and Mopar will be unveiling a very special Challenger at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Challenger ACR is a no-frills homage to the original option-delete cars of the 1960s and 70s, and is inspired by the success of the Mopar Drag Pak Challenger and more recently, the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. Equipped with Mopar parts, such as a coil-over suspension, front-and rear-strut tower braces, short-throw shifter, front splitter, cat-back exhaust, custom exhaust headers and a set of Goodyear F1 Supercar performance tires, the Challenger ACR is an animal that has as much bark as its cornering bite.

Performance enhancements in the interior include carbon fiber door panels, front race bucket seats with openings for a racing harness and the rear seat is removed and replaced by a roll bar and fire extinguisher. An SRT three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, SRT gauge cluster, custom bright pedal kit, Mopar Drag Pack center stack and a carbon fiber center console finish off the interior modifications.

The exterior has design cues similar to those found on the Viper SRT10 ACR, including a white body, charcoal painted roof, carbon fiber hood, rear deck lid, rear spoiler and tail lamp surround and an offset flame red stripe that runs the length of the car. Red painted mirror caps and brake calipers, unique black painted five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels and red “ACR” fender badging finish off the exterior design details. The white and red theme carries over to the interior with white accents on the carbon fiber door panels, red armrest bars with white foam padding, red door latch release tethers, red painted roll bars and red accents on the carbon fiber racing seats covered in black Katzkin leather.

American tuner SpeedFactory has released a massively powerful Dodge Challenger SRT8 with 600 hp.

This car is kinda unique because it is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 and it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Being naturally aspirated, the engine had to be modified deeply to be able to deliver expected performance. So it’s bored up to 7 liter (standard 6.1) and it’s given high performance parts such as custom Comp hydraulic cam, an 85mm throttle body, CARB- certified high volume air intake and Corsa stainless steel cat back exhaust system.

To make sure it also handles properly, the tuner has fitted it with sport suspension, 20-inch BBS Black Edition CH-R wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires.

For racing enthusiasts one of the most important specs for a car is the amount of horsepower it is able to produce. While most production cars have been rising in the horsepower category for the last couple of decades today’s exotic supercars have completely blown away anything the traditional vehicles offer. Here are two cars that offer 600 horsepower or more.

Dodge Viper SRT-10
The Dodge Viper SRT-10 is relatively cheap for a supercar boasting 600 horsepower. At $85,000, it is within many enthusiasts reach. It features an 8.4 liter cam in block, V10 that has two valves per cylinder and a relatively traditional engine (whopping 512 cubic inches) that uses brute force to create spot on 600 horses.

The Bugatti Veyron
If you are looking for something more exotic and you are incredibly rich, you might want to get on the list for the Bugatti Veyron. The Veyron is pretty much the top of the food chain with a price tag of 1.5 million for starters. The Bugatti Veyron has incredible specs that will just about blow any enthusiast away. To start out, the 16 cylinder which is actually a twin off set of V-8 engines that utilizes all 16 cylinders creates an incredible 1001 horses. These two huge engines actually share a common crankshaft and include four turbochargers.

Some other stunning facts about the Bugatti Veyron is that it can easily reach 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds- 2.5 seconds to be exact (in case you had time to count). As for top speed- how is 250 mph. However, in order to reach this insane top speed you need the special “top speed key”. As for gas mileage, don’t expect this beast to be fuel efficient. In fact at the top speed of 250 mph, you can probably eek out about 2.46 mpg- we are approaching military tank fuel efficiency.

In the 1990′s one car that was huge for sporting American muscle and performance wrapped in good looks was the Dodge Viper. While Dodge has since been bought by Daimler (originally part of Daimler- Chrysler) and subsequently split again (still under the Chrysler badge) Chrysler is now looking for a potential buyer.

Chrysler has always been the small fish of the big 3 car makers and in today’s market with all 3 car makers on the verge of bankruptcy, Chrysler is looking to sell some of its most popular (but low margin) name plates.

The Dodge Viper started as a 1992 model and today it is still one of the most respected sport cars on the road. With a V10, 8.4 liter engine, most sports cars can’t touch this beast on the track or street. Today’s fourth generation ZB Viper is incredible as it produces a whopping 600 horsepower, 90 hp more than previous models. The ZB can easily accelerate from 0 to 60 in about 3.5 seconds and 0 to 100 in about 7.6- that is about 11.5 quarter mile hitting approximately 129 mph. Don’t worry, the top speed for this incredible car is over 200 beating some of the best exotics out there (202 mph for the coupe version, the roadster reaches only 197 mph).

While there is much to be proud of the Viper, with the potential sale of the Viper to a foreign buyer, it can make many enthusiasts very sad to say the least. The one thing that many Americans like about their sports cars is not the finesse or elegance, but the rawness in power and aggressiveness they display. While there is no buyer announced yet, as soon as the Dodge brass commit, it is very likely that the Viper will be put on the auctioning block and sold very quickly.

Big News Today from the auto industry, one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world Chrysler will be manufacturing and selling electric vehicles as early as 2010. For car tuning enthusiasts that are looking for an all electric vehicle in the similar vein as Tesla Motors, The 2010 Dodge EV will surely please. While details are still scant, there were a few things mentioned today to give the public some idea of what type of vehicle is in the works. Here are just some of the tidbits we learned about today.

The 2010 Dodge EV Will be an All Electric Roadster
Chrysler is looking to enter the electric market in 2010 with a bang. Looking probably to go head to head with Tesla Motors and their $109,000 roadster, the Dodge EV will be a high performance, all electric vehicle. It is currently being designed with the help of Lotus Cars Ltd and current performance is rated at 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds and the ability to run a distance of about 200 miles on a full charge. A full battery charge would take about 8 hours with a 110 volt connection and half that with 220 volt connection. Besides an all electric sportser, Chrysler has also hinted that it may produce a hybrid roadster that will have great performance with less sticker shock.

The Key is in the Battery
Obviously, the most important component of an electric vehicle is the battery and Chrysler has been working with a variety of suppliers and with many organizations doing cutting edge research on battery materials. It looks like battery technology is advancing pretty quickly and will be powerful enough within the next few years to propel the first of an onslaught of many new electric vehicles.

For those that love the old muscle cars, one car that has made a comeback in a big way is the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Coupe for 2009. Dodge, is throwing caution to the wind and has pulled all the stops to create this once again classic muscle car. The new 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will offer some of the best horsepower available in its class and an engine that brings a smile to many tuner’s faces.

To start things off the Dodge SRT8 includes a monster 6.1 liter V8 Hemi engine that produces an amazing 425 horsepower and an amazing 420 feet of torque at 4800 rpm. This rear wheel drive comes with huge tires, automatic transmission (5 speed with overdrive), 4 wheel antilock performance brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, a stabilizer bar and plenty of bells and whistles to make any tuner enthusiast happy. For those hoping for a manual transmission there is talk of adding one either later this year or next year.

Some of the stats are amazing for this car. First off expect to accelerate from 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds (4.9 seconds to be exact). And you can expect to accelerate from 0 to 100 in under 17 seconds. With the Brembo high performance brakes, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 will go from 60 to 0 in 110 feet. For those wondering how much this type of performance costs in a great looking muscle car for the 21st century- believe it or not, fully equipped less than 40K US.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and its less powerful models Dodge Challenger SE and R/T look to be a smash success this coming year. Besides the interior looking great, the exterior is definitely a looker and will definitely bring back the classic days of muscle cars. For those looking for a serious vehicle that takes no prisoners, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 is one of the most exciting vehicles to come out in a while.

Dodge, well, we all know Dodge, Dodge Ram, Dodge Neon, Dodge traffic, Dodge school… we know Dodge. In 1914 Dodge was founded and created by the Dodge brothers, who then sold it and it was one of the first acquired by the new Chrysler Corporation (in 1928) since then it was and has been exclusively the largest seller of the Chrysler empire.

The Dodge Brothers had originally started as bicycle and other machine makers, and then they started doing parts for Oldsmobile. Then, in 1902, they were met by Ford, who needed help starting his Ford Motor Company – and as they were generous folks they lent him a hand. Until 1913 all gears, parts, brakes, and such were manufactured by Dodge. During World War I they manufactured trucks and other important parts for the war effort; however in 1920 both brothers died. They were both struck with the Spanish Flu and died within months of each other, thus their widows sold the company to Dillon Reed and Co. for 148 million – and then they sold it to Chrysler three years later.

Following this and up to the Second World War Dodge found success under Chrysler, having manufactured very popular vehicles and remaining in business throughout the turmoil of the great depression, although they were hard pressed to even push a profit. Many of their vehicles were used for firefighting trucks and other things in different countries, and after the Second World War they expanded to Europe – until Chrysler collapsed in 1977 in Europe due to the poor conditions there. The Dodge came back to Europe in 2006, and has been doing fairly well. Recently the newer models of dodge are planned for release in the next three years, such as the Dodge Journey, a new SUV crossover that has yet to be released. In 2001 Chrysler was merged with Daimler, and in 2007 they got a divorce. Chrysler maintained custody of its children (Dodge, and others) while Daimler kept the house. Chrysler and Dodge are now owned by Cerberus.
