The Regal King of the Road
The latest 2008 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500 KR “King of the Road” conquers the spotlight with a big bang. It is set to be released on the market this spring 2008. There will only be 1,000 limited models in production to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1968 original Shelby Cobra GT 500 KR. The hit TV show 2008 movie “Knight Rider” will feature it as its new KITT replacing the classic Pontiac as confirmed by NBC. It did not come as a big surprise to many. After it was unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, it already made a headline as the new Mustang obsession of the town.
There is too much to say about this highbred KR model from the GT 500 design to featured technology systems and optional upgrades. I decided to categorize its outstanding features into 4 groups - Power and Performance, Exterior, Interior, and Safety. These elements define the legendary performance that the Mustang family is truly known for.
Power & Performance
What is a Mustang without an amazing feat of its power and control? The 2008 Shelby GT 500 KR edition is a product of Ford and Shelby Automobiles’ continuous drive to performance excellence. A lot of modifications and unbelievable feats were added to this magnificent engine.

Passenger Car Tires

Passenger car tires are the most produced tires, being that nearly every single car uses them. Passenger car tires are a standard and essential and economical anchor for the car industry, the common driver, and the car industry.
However there are some things you should consider with your tires. Since winter is still in full swing up here in the great northern hemisphere, while the rest of the people of earth get to stay warm down south, increased wear and tear on tires from salts and sands on the road do take their toll. Be sure to check your tread on your passenger car’s tires and do the “penny” test (any coin of about the same size will do) and slip it into the tread to check for wear.
If you live in an especially snowy area and have problems getting around, check with your local DMV or driving authority about the legality of enhancements such as chances, or even metal studded snow tires instead of your regular passenger car tires. There’s a ton of different kinds of tires out there, so check all your options before you buy, and be sure you get something that is a quality tire, not a knockoff “because it is cheap” passenger car tire.

Rebuilt Tires

Rebuilt tires are nothing more than used tires that have the tread put back on, however they provide an environmentally friendlier way of tire manufacturing and recycling.
The process is that the company that gets the tires will inspect them for flaws, then they will begin the process. Rebuilt tires start out as old worn ones, usually almost bald - well the rubber tread is buffed off and a new tread is applied, resulting in a totally rebuilt tire. Recently some rebuilt tire companies have come under fire for cost cutting that results in poorly made products - however other companies are reputable and are good.
Rebuilt tires can be rebuilt up to ten times - greatly extending the life of a tire. Rebuilt tires are usually cheaper, since the inner wall manufacturing doesn’t occur, and the tires are recycled. Where a normal tire may last a year, rebuilt tires that are taken care of and rebuilt when needed can, in theory, last ten years or longer, greatly reducing costs and increasing the mileage of the tires - this also positively affects the environment in that less materials are used up in the long run and less pollutants enter the atmosphere. Rebuilt tires are also very popular with the airplane industry, along with trucks and buses.

How to Tune a Car

A car is incredibly important and many car owners count on their car to constantly perform well, offer safety for their family and be consistently reliable. While cars have changed drastically with the many new technologies that have been introduced in the last 20 years, you can still tune your car to a certain degree to ensure that it will continue to perform. Here are some of the things to consider when tuning your car.
Tools Needed
Unless you are car enthusiast, you probably won’t have any need for tools other than the basic screwdriver, wrench and the car’s owner manual. For many of the new cars, you are not required to tune it for at least 100,000 miles- and even then, it is encouraged that you bring it into a reputable service station. However, for the basic car owner and even the car enthusiast, you can usually do a lot with a couple of tools and the car’s manual. While all vehicles have different specs, generally speaking, if you are planning on tuning a car, you will want to tackle the following: oil change, air filter, belts & hoses & tires.
Oil Change
While most people these days take their car for a 15 minute oil change, you can do yours in about the same time for about half the cost. Just make sure to get the right size oil filter and the right grade of motor oil. You will also want to have on hand all the tools necessary to not only change the oil, but dispose of it properly.
Air Filter
The air filter can also be easy to change. You might have to search around the vehicle and use a screwdriver or wrench to get at it. But once you pull it out, take a look at it and make sure it is clean. If not, replace it. The color of the air filter can be slightly faded, but if it has black stains and spots- ditch it.
Belts & Hoses
Other items that you should visibly check are the belts and hoses. Belts and hoses should be visibly checked every couple of weeks, especially if you are noticing a reduction in performance. Make sure all belts and hoses are secured tightly and that there are no cracks or nicks visible. If the rubber looks faded or looks like it is developing a crack or split replace it.
Tires
Tires are essential to high performance and safety. When checking tires, not only check the tread, but also if it is properly inflated. You can look in your manual to make sure you inflate all tires to their proper PSI (pounds per square inch). Never over-inflate or under-inflate your tires.
For those that are looking to tune up their cars, you can’t do as much as you used to the older cars, but you can still ensure the best performance and safety. If you have any specific questions about your vehicle, always talk to a licensed mechanic or your dealership.
